Joshua and I have narrowed down dog names to ten. By all mean weigh in. Please refer to Josh's Dispatches from the Flatlands for visual confirmation of the pup in question.

In no order:

1. Ixi
2. Lola
3. Astrid
4. Adelheide (Adel)
5. Isolde
6. Liesl
7. Ingrid
8. Tatiana
9. Petra
10. Lucinda

We have about a week to decide! Excitement!

I think I rather like this dog. She's soft to touch and hard to win over. And she'll match our furniture, Scandinavian and white.

I vote for Isolde. Nice name. However, for a dog you need to find a good name for shouting out the door. Like..."OLDY!" Or "IZZY!" That she'll come for. 'Cause "Isolde" will just sound funny when she's chasing squirrels and you can't get her back to the house. :-D

one vote for Ixi

I like Astrid - but think it should be reserved for a person. Lola is best!

Lolita would be a good dog's name. It has innumerable variations for getting her away from squirrels or for snuggling, and it's not like you can use it for a human daughter without it being a little creepy.

As posted on Josh's blog,
I like the name "cuddlestuffs." Think about it. It works.

How are you coping with this, dear?

I would still feel like a perv naming my dog Lolita. Hence Lola, which HH calls her in the book, a nickname of a nickname if you will, and also brings to mind Marlene Dietrich in "The Blue Fairy" and the Kinks song about the same actor in the same role in the same film.

But maybe her name could actually be Lolita and we could just call her Lola. Lolita Sarah Grace Ostergaard-Cross. Winner?

I like Tatiana. And of interest to Josh: Alexa's sister just got a dog and named her Lola. Guess what Alexa has nicknamed the dog...

I don't know, Phil. What? Marlene would be my first guess.

Just joshin'.

I'm a real big fan of names that I can change on the fly. Josh can attest to that (Buddah, R.I.P.). So keeping that in mind, my votes go to: Astrid (Asteroid), Isolde (I sold), and Petra (Petrol).

The last one might be my favorite, because I figure you guys are in oil country, and that would make my references to "Petrol" slightly funnier. I mean, you might not think it's funny, but I will be ROTFLMAO on the inside, while my lovely wife rolls her eyes at my childish ways.

I like lucinda. but im not totally for dogs with too human names. i dunno why. you need a name that will sound good when you call for it from afar or when you're baby talking to him/her.
